

Helicopter based aerial Spraying Operations
will soon commence in fallow Plantation areas within FPQ Northern Region (Byfield/Stanage).
Forestry Plantations Pty Ltd wish to notify the Public that these operations will be conducted on
suitable days between the 23rd of January and the 23rd of February 2012 around the vicinity
Of the Upper Stoney Creek Road, The "Lane" Road and the Stanage Bay Road.
For safety reasons public access into plantation areas will be restricted during this period. All Council roads will remain open to the Public. Forestry Plantations Queensland Pty Ltd (FPQ) is currently seeking expressions of interest from parties for the procurement of log supply contracts for wood products processing in South East Queensland. Forestry Plantations Queensland (FPQ) has closed plantation forests in the coastal areas between Ingham and Tully whilst it assesses damage caused by Cyclone Yasi. FPQ manages 9400 hectares of plantation in the area.
Chief Executive Officer of FPQ, Brian Farmer, said safety and good environmental management is a priority.
"FPQ will be working with a range of local and state government agencies to ensure that the assessment is carried out safely and efficiently to achieve the best possible outcome for all stakeholders," Mr Farmer said.
Cathu State Forest and Jaxut Camping Area are closed to all public access. The State forest was seriously damaged by Cyclone Ului and entry to the area is deemed unsafe. Access will remain closed until further notice.
Forestry Plantations Queensland is undertaking road works in the Centepede logging area of Mt Mee State Forest in preparation for harvesting and/or thinning of hoop pine plantations in the area over the next few months. As a result, public access through the area is now restricted
Harvesting has commenced in the Upper Stoney area of the Byfield State Plantation Forest, north-east of Rockhampton, and will continue through until 2012. Logging trucks may be encountered on roads around this area 24 hours a day so please take extra care. A speed limit of 40km/h is recommended on roads. The Caribbean Circuit walking track is closed for forest production.
